MAKING
MESSY MEALTIMES EASIER
Caitlin is a high energy, active and talkative 23-month-old toddler
who likes getting her hands into everything around her –
playground dirt, colorful markers, and whatever food that’s
been set in front of her that day. “She’s a definite
food thrower,” said Peter about his daughter. “Pasta,
hotdogs, you name it. And, she seems to particularly like throwing
anything covered in sauces, cheese or ketchup. I think she wants
to make sure her dog Nate is fed well. And I’m sure he sees
it as manna from heaven. Half of the food that goes toward her
mouth ends up on her shirt and pants. She won’t wear a bib
anymore and we like to let her feed herself and hone her skills
with forks and spoons.”
When Caitlin wears her Nano-Tex enhanced Super Khaki baby pants
from Old Navy, her parents find that instead of changing her entire
outfit multiple times, they only change her shirts. Her one pair
of stain-proof pants lasts the whole day. “That’s
four times the usual life of Caitlin’s clothes. If more
of her clothes were stain-resistant, we wouldn’t need near
as many clothes for her as we do now. Each pair of new pants costs
approximately $17.00 and lasts for only three to six months; with
the stain-proof pants you’d only need three to four pairs
of pants rather than eight to twelve pairs of alternates. That
is a significant cost savings, even with only one child.”
