WHO WILL BE OFFERING THE TECHNOLOGY?
Nano-Tex and Applied Textiles are working with a select group of distributors and mills to introduce this innovative technology to the market.

IS NANO-TEX RESISTS SPILLS PERMANENT?
Yes. The process creates a permanent bond between the fabric and the technology. The only way to affect the performance is by removing fibers thereby removing the technology.

HOW DOES NANO-TEX RESISTS SPILLS COMPARE TO COMPETITIVE TREATMENTS?
Nano-Tex Resists Spills offers better performance as demonstrated by our superior spray rating and durability.

CAN NANO-TEX RESISTS SPILLS BE PUT ON ANY FABRIC?
The technology can be put on almost any fabric except olefin-based products, due to the high heat used during processing.

HOW DO YOU CLEAN FABRICS WITH NANO-TEX RESISTS SPILLS?
Most stains can be cleaned with water. If necessary, detergents and solvents can be used without affecting the technology's performance. If the fabric is safe for bleach cleaning, that will still be possible after the Nano-Tex Resists Spills enhancement is applied.

DOES THE APPLICATION OF NANO-TEX CHANGE THE FABRIC'S CLEANING CODE?
Once Nano-Tex is applied, a fabric can be cleaned per the Nano-Tex Care Instructions.

DOES NANO-TEX RESISTS SPILLS AFFECT FABRIC DURABILITY?
On fabrics tested using the Wyzenbeek method, durability increased 55% on average, after the application of Nano-Tex Resists Spills. Test results are dependent upon fabric construction and individual fabrics must be tested for specific results. In addition, fabric performance on crocking, seam slippage, breaking strength, colorfastness and brush pill testing has been shown to maintain the fabric's original standards.

WILL NANO-TEX RESISTS SPILLS AFFECT BOW & SKEW?
The application of Nano-Tex Resists Spills will neither improve nor diminish bow & skew from the condition in which it was received. The product is inspected prior to shipment to ensure that industry standards are maintained.

WILL NANO-TEX RESISTS SPILLS CAUSE SHADE CHANGE?
Every finish will affect a fabric to some degree depending on the construction and fiber content. The superior Nano-Tex finish shows very little shade change across a broad array of fabrics tested. During our fabric qualification process, shade is evaluated to ensure the aesthetics are maintained within commercially accepted standards.

CAN NANO-TEX BE APPLIED TO CUBICLES OR DRAPERY?
Yes, a special formulation of Nano-Tex (NXF) can be applied to inherently fire resistant fabrics such as Trevira or Avora which pass NFPA701 prior to treatment. Once treated, these products have passed NFPA701 through at least 20 commercial washings.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO PROCESS NANO-TEX RESISTS SPILLS?
Nano-Tex Resists Spills will be finished in 48 hours. If it is combined with a second treatment, the combined finishes will be completed in 72 hours.

IS NANO-TEX RESISTS SPILLS SAFE?
Nano-Tex formulations and fabrics optimized with our technologies meet or exceed all environmental, health, and safety standards mandated by the Environmental Protection Agency, the Occupational Safety & Health Administration and the Consumer Product Safety Commission in the United States as well as standards mandated by similar regulatory bodies in the European Union, Latin America and Asia-Pacific regions. Nano-Tex formulations and treated fabric samples are evaluated by authorized, independent organizations, and are established as safe in all required categories of skin sensitivity, toxicity, environmental safety, and personal health.

IS NANO-TEX SAFE DUE TO THE NANO-SCALE PARTICLE SIZE?
Yes. The polymers used in Nano-Tex treatments durably bind to the fabric's fibers through a patented attachment technology. Additionally, Nano-Tex treatments are designed to be non-bioabsorbant; the polymers used are too large to be absorbed into the skin or inhaled. Nano-Tex does NOT use nanomaterials that could be ingested or inhaled.

SINCE NANO-TEX TECHNOLOGY IS MANUFACTURED ON THE NANO-SCALE, ARE THERE SPECIAL PROCESSES THAT NEED TO BE PERFORMED TO MEET INDUSTRY STANDARDS FOR WASTE TREATMENT?
Nano-Tex's chemistries do not require any additional or special processing within waste water treatment facilities. 3rd party environmental studies have determined that textile mill effluent containing Nano-Tex chemicals are easily handled by the local waste water treatment facilities; the common mode of disposing of textile chemicals. In addition, it was determined that accidental spills of Nano-Tex chemistry into rivers and streams would not pose a risk to the aquatic environment.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DURABLOCK AND OTHER MOISTURE RESISTANT PRODUCTS?
DuraBlock is a true barrier that resists at least 13 pounds per square inch of water pressure. For reference, many high performance products (polyurethane coatings) are only tested to .5 psi, and are considered moisture resistant only. Cleaning pressure can exert between 3 and 5 psi. In addition, polyurethane can not be cleaned with common solvent based cleaners. This is not an issue for the DuraBlock liquid barrier.

IS NANO-TEX RESISTS SPILLS WITH DURABLOCK RECYCLABLE?
The DuraBlock liquid barrier is 100% polyester and antimony free, so it is highly recyclable. Nano-Tex is an environmentally friendly chemistry (without antimicrobial properties) that is recyclable.

CAN NANO-TEX RESISTS SPILLS WITH DURABLOCK BE EXTRACTION CLEANED?
Yes, extraction cleaning is a very effective method for cleaning Nano-Tex enhanced fabrics with the DuraBlock liquid barrier. The foam in the cushion does not become saturated due to the liquid barrier, keeping it clean and allowing faster drying. Please refer to the Care Instructions for Nano-Tex Resists Spills Fabrics document for more detailed cleaning information.

WHAT HAPPENS TO THE LIQUID BARRIER AT THE SEAMS?
Liquid barrier performance cannot be guaranteed where there are seams, much like in vinyl products today. We recommend appropriate seating designs which minimize seams where continuous moisture barrier performance is critical to the customer.

WILL THE DURABLOCK PRODUCT DELAMINATE IN FIELD USE?
Lifecycle testing has been conducted to determine the bond strength between the fabric and the DuraBlock liquid barrier. There has been no sign of the fabric pulling away from the barrier after durability and environmental testing designed to simulate wear up to 10 years.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO PROCESS NANO-TEX RESISTS SPILLS WITH THE DURABLOCK LIQUID BARRIER?
For approval testing, results will be available in 72 hours.
